Considering the emphasis this game places on long-term planning, Gardenscapes can be quite a challenging casual game to play.
This is true for Hard levels where an extra life could really come in handy because it’s too hard or tricky to figure out how to complete the level goal.
Today we will focus on dynamite in particular, but if you want to be great at the match-3 puzzle games in Gardenscapes, then you should really have a good understanding of all the power-ups. Luckily, we have just what you need!

Power-ups
There are 5 power-ups in total in Gardenscapes, namely Firecrackers, Bombs, Dynamites, TNTs and Rainbow Blasts.
Unlike most other match-3 games, they all, except Rainbow Blast, explodes in this game. The main difference and what you should know more about is how their magnitude of the explosion differs from one power-up to another.
It is just as important to know how to get them in the first place.
Dynamite
Dynamites are rare in this game because it can be hard to get a match-6. Most of the time, you’ll get dynamites either by using boosters, opening crates or by getting them from random effects.
Bombs have higher blast range and may also trigger more bombs. They are perfect for clearing obstacles.
Dynamite is created by matching six pieces of the same type. It can be detonated either by double tapping it or swapping it with an adjacent piece. Its blast radius extends for up to three tiles.
Other Power-ups
Firecrackers
To get a firecracker, you need to make a match of four. This has to be in a linear shape and not, for example, in square form. When it explodes, it’ll clear four blocks of items around it – the one piece in front or behind and two on either side.
If you’re new to Gardenscapes and need an explosive form of help, this may be the best way to go!
Since it’s so easy to create, you can use it to chip away at the layers of grasses or crates and drop a Lemonade that’s 1-3 pieces from the bottom.
Due to its unique explosion pattern, you can use it to clear away an offending piece in the array to help create other explosives.
You can usually buy these in bulk so you might want to use it to boost the Rainbow Blast meter by blowing a lot of them all at once.
Bomb
The Bomb is much more powerful than the Firecracker. It blows up 3 spaces around it in a 3 by 3 space. The downside is that you may have to spend a bit more time constructing it.
You need to make a match-5 in order to get one of these and fortunately any kind will do. So whether you get it from linear, L-shape or T-shape, there is no difference.
Firecrackers are able to clear away a lot of obstacles and deal high damage, while bombs are primarily used to clear rows of obstacles. More often than not, bombs are also the best way to drop a lemonade down to the bottom quicker.
TNT
A TNT is one of the rarest power-ups and as such you have to get it through a 7-piece match (or more).
As such, this power-up is incredibly powerful and is able to clear the largest area around it as compared to the previous three, and if you do see it in a level that you’re playing, chances are
it’s there for a very good reason and you should make sure you use it in the most strategic way possible.
If not, you can probably kiss one of your virtual lives goodbye!
Rainbow Blast
With the Rainbow Blast, you can’t get it by matching like the other power-ups. Instead, you’ll need to charge its meter up to activate it – that’s done by triggering explosions with the other power-ups.
The Rainbow Blast is then randomly loaded on the board.
This is an interesting feature that can make you charge up the meter a lot quicker if you chain together more explosions. So if you need to use a Rainbow Blast soon, then this would be great to keep in mind.
Rainbow Blast turns out to have a number of unique features that distinguish it from other match-3 games. You can swipe across it while connected with a neighboring piece to collect all the same pieces on the board.
This is an essential power-up in any color matching game, but it can help you clear obstacles too.
