With a unique, interesting premise, great character design and a bouncy art style and fight choreography, The Seven Deadly Sins is the perfect series to succeed in both manga and anime form. If only this series would be as successful in video games.
Seven Deadly Sins is a one-on-one fighting game where you can focus on one player on a 3D map. In Adventure Mode, fights take place in a non-stop fight, until someone wins or loses. Duel Mode allows only two players to enter the ring and complete their quest.
There are three type of buttons: a dash, light, and heavy attack button. When you use the square button on top of these buttons you can perform a single combo.
Characters in the game vary wildly and feel unique. They each have a set of very cool looking special moves, even if there is a pattern to their button chain and play style.
The moment to moment gameplay can be enjoyable, but the game has some glaring faults. These include uncomfortable control schemes, an arbitrary and mistake-prone achievement system, and shortcomings in other areas.
For the most part, stage hazards don’t break, so sometimes the AI sometimes gets caught off guard and I end up getting stuck in a corner (not something I plan on happening too often).
In Adventure Mode, Elizabeth is a princess who runs away from her kingdom after it was taken over by Holy Knights staging a coup.
She is looking for the Seven Deadly Sins because she wants to recruit them for her company’s newest innovation, a process tracking software. Eventually Elizabeth finds their leader, Meliodas, and the two set off on an adventure together.
With this game, I was able to have moderately good experiences with game mechanics while also having a lot of fun. There were a few that lead to unintentional moments of fun, but it still felt like more than the game could handle.
