Sauropod Studio was founded in 2012 by François Alain and his two siblings, Germain Couet and Benoit Alain. They began as a small company that would provide mobile game design services to various companies in the industry at affordable rates.
Instead of raising money by appealing to the general public using a Kickstarter campaign, this team on 27 July 2012 focused on a goal that’s closer to their needs and created a crowdfunding campaign through Kickstarter. The project was successful and exceeded their goal of US$80,000 within hours.
The campaign concluded after one month, with a total of $700,000 pledged. Sauropod was praised by Markus Persson, the creator of Minecraft who publicly approved of the game.
The game came out with a free beta in July 2014. This was first given to those who pledged $15 or more for the game; and later released publicly on Steam on September 23rd 2013.
There’s an ongoing development for additional content with bug fixes for found problems being implemented.
