All of your favorite characters return in this installment of the Angry Birds franchise. Enjoy a cartoon-like experience on an adventure that you’ll leave piles of cartoon carnage in your wake.
The premise of the game isn’t radically different from the original, except it’s now taking place on an unexplored region of their shared island.
You can purchase upgrades for your slingshot which allow you to destroy more things, get through tougher levels and unlock other icons. Each level has a series of formations you must work through in order to complete it.
While Angry Birds: Journey is an enjoyable game with a solid gameplay and addicting elements, the fact that it plays out similarly in every level was a flaw. Sure, the visuals are cute and there aren’t many cutscenes or animations, but it is not long until you get bored of playing this title.
The menu is not exciting by any means, but there are a few more additions with each level completed.
Like many other power-ups, flowers are certainly a useful power-up to have in your arsenal. A friend of mine who used these made levels as easy as they needed to be. I found that growth is limited, however, so you’ll need to be strategic when it comes to how you use it.
You’re fighting against rubber duck hordes of every color and they do a lot of the work for you. Your difficulty never really changes, so if you were hoping for an increase in challenge, this game will disappoint.
Players of all ages will enjoy the game- its low level of challenge is consistent and presents interesting challenges to progress.
In all key matters, Angry Birds Journey is as much as enjoyable experience and has a lot of replay value offered to your game. The addictive game play ensures that you’re going to have nothing but fun while the sheer number of levels provide an unforeseen longevity.
Kids and pre-teens will enjoy the silly characters and light puzzle mechanics, even if older gamers are unamused. Angry Birds is worth keeping around for some time, and every new entry won’t be revolutionary.
Angry Birds Journey: simplifying the series’ formula, bringing a few new ideas, but primarily relies on what’s come before. The addictive action of slinging birds at pigs is fun for some time but some players may not find the puzzle they crave.
